2010 Grimes Family Reunion Electronic Announcement

Who:    the descendants of William Grimes II (1813-1902), family, family friends & guests

When:  as always our reunion is on the 4th Sunday of June: June 27 in 2010

Where: again this year it is arranged at the Ruritan building at 205 Ayers St Everetts, NC

Contact: co-chairs of this year's reunion and related business; a couple of Mayo's boys

Please bring:

- your favorite, customary potluck contributions: ice tea, a covered dish, etc.

- the new mailing & e-mail addresses of any extended family members, attending or not,

- and cash/check for expenses (building rental, et al) and donations

(10:00 Building will be open not later than 10:00)

11:00 Activities including:

- visit with kindred, sign in, setup tables, ready the hall

- questions answered regarding  website www.grimestree.net

- open house at the Spring Green Primitive Baptist Church (11:00-12:00 just for you)

12:00 Dinner - potluck

•• Roll call, celebrate new and departed members

•• Treasurer's report: Bob Grimes had been the treasurer for many years.  Thank you Bob!

•• We still need someone to step up to take, keep and read the minute's long term.

•• Thank you Gladys Tice being the reunion secretary for many years.

•• Determine a chair for 2011. We forgot to do this last year, and so by default we, Don and Lew, doing it again.  We will not forget this year. 

•• Board members, Spring Green Preservation Fund (Fund) will report on the Fund’s highlights, provide the treasurer’s report, and made an appeal for donations.

•• In recent years I (Lew) have tried to maintain a current address (and e-mail) list of living members of the clan and provide the list at reunions and on the Grimes (family) tree connection website.  (E-mail addresses will not be published online.)

NOTICE: Information regarding the Spring Green Preservation Fund is reported at the reunion because of the high interest and participation of Grimes family members. The Fund is an independent, chartered non-profit corporation, and donations to the Fund are tax-deductable. The direct predecessor organization of the Fund, led by our late Ernie Capps, was a spin-off of our Reunion and its members.

•• We need to raise about $3,000 to replace/repair the southern exposure half of the roof; recently and frequently shingles from the south side have been found on the ground.  We need your help.  Ideally we would replace the whole roof, but that's an unlikely option.

•• The annual meeting of the Spring Green Preservation Fund, Inc. will begin between 02:00 and 02:30 at the Church. All are welcome!  More at  www.joinspringgreen.org
