How to Submit amendments  (overview and all inclusive)

How to Submit corrections

How to Submit omissions

How to Submit additions

How to Submit text edits       (rewrites)

Every amendment submittal must have a submitter and a backup; the backup is another person who has knowledge and preferably a different address

An alternative way, not described below, to Submit amendments is to use:

"My Personal Family Lineage" form and follow the instructions on unnumbered page 6.

The form is found at http://www.grimestree.net/TreeMyLineage.doc

My goal is for  amendments to be correct and timely ; therefore, only e-mailed corrections, omissions, additions, and text edits will be processed and only those in the format described herein.   I agonized about this decision.  Even if submittals were typed on a typewriter and mailed, they would have to be retyped or scanned and scan errors corrected.  Obviously they could not be processed as quickly as e-mail.  All e-mailed submittals will be archived.

I fully recognize that this will be a burden to many who will want to participate.

YES, I may indeed process submitted corrections, omissions, additions, and text edits in other forms, but their inclusion cannot and will not be timely!  Those that are typed and validated (naming who and when amendments were collected) will be processed first.  I am unlikely to process handwritten submittals unless they are block printed (not stylized) and individual letters are clearly identifiable.

I am making the commitment to offer described editions and versions (formats).  One (1) correction to Rufus’s book could possibly require changing seven (7) documents:  word processor file, browser (Internet Explorer) and PDF (Adobe) versions of both the Matched and Revised Editions plus the online master log of corrections, the web page "Family Tree CORRECTIONS".

I have invested a great deal of time and money in this project.  I continue to and will continue to do so.  I am organizing the project in a manner that can be sustained and at some point handed off.  Organization is a natural talent for me, but the required time and technology come at a high cost.  And it will not be easy in the future.

(Personal sidebar:  Interest in using computers is largely a matter of time, place, and need: personal or vocational.  I was 66 years old on September 8, 2007.  A retired educator, I have been actively using computers since 1980.  My Dad was a model educator.  He recognized that computers were going to make a huge impact particularly in education, but, as he later expressed to me, he was extremely happy to retire without having to deal with computers.)

ADDITIONS (births, deaths, marriages since 1972),

OMISSIONS (forms of “…..” and/or “….. (date) printed in 1972) and

TEXT EDITS WILL NOT be included in the MATCHED edition.

They WILL be included in the REVISED edition of The Grimes-Llewellyn Families in all its forms.

CORRECTION amendments (misnamed, misplacements, misspellings or otherwise misstated) will be listed on the web page “Family Tree CORRECTIONS” and included in  both  the MATCHED and REVISED editions

of The Grimes-Llewellyn Families providing the information was

complete and in the format requested.
